FAQs

What is a Faith Committment?

A Faith Commitment is a strategic plan in giving to establish a place for His glory to be seen and released. This is an opportunity for all to make an equal sacrifice not an equal gift! Rather than waiting to respond to individual appeals as they come along, ask the Lord how much you should give to our Stewardship Journey over the next three years; annually, monthly, weekly and even daily. Then commit to that annual total as a "Faith Commitment."

What is the Scriptural basis for a Faith Commitment?

Giving is more than one can afford (II Corinthians 8:2-3, II Corinthians 9:6-15); Reflects our personal commitments (II Corinthians 8:5); Demonstrates our love (Philippians 2:1-4; Luke 6:38, Romans 12:9-10).

Who should make a Faith Commitment?

Everyone! Children and youth may have less money than adults, but it's crucial to train them in systematic giving and faith living. Determine whether you are making Individual or Family Faith Commitments.

Faith Commitment verses a tithe or offering:

Faith Commitment giving is over and above the tithe and offering. Tithing and giving offerings are clear scriptural principles, dating back to the earliest pages of Genesis. Tithing recognizes God's ownership over me and all that I have. In practical terms, tithe and offering money funds the local church and its ministries. Faith Commitments are a way to give specifically to establish TLC Family Church’s presence in this community by purchasing a place for His glory to be seen and released.

How do I get the funds to fulfill my Faith Commitment?

God may increase your income. God may decrease your expenses. God may lead you to sacrifice.

How do I make a Faith Commitment?

Study the scriptures. Prayerfully consider the amount you can faithfully purpose to give. Do not be surprised at what God lays on your heart. Just be obedient. Fill out a Faith Commitment Card, indicating your Faith and Commitment. Divide the total by 46 or 23 or 10 (weekly, bi-monthly or monthly contributions for 2010) according to your individual pay schedule.

How do I give my Faith Commitment?

Give regularly if you can. Faith Commitments, however, may depend on annual, one-time income. These can be paid when those monies are received.

Will I be notified of my progress?

Yes, in stewarding of our Faith Commitments, we will notify you monthly of your Faith Commitment progress. Additionally, we will announce our Corporate Faith Commitment growth. Individual Faith Commitments will not be publicized without your permission for testimony purposes.

Who can make a Faith Commitment?

Anyone who wants to trust God and who wants to be used of God to get the Good News to the unreached can make a Faith Commitment (Luke 6:38, Proverbs 11:24-25). Youth and children are encouraged to participate in Faith Commitment giving.

How long does my Faith Commitment last?

Faith Commitments are annual. Although the “we are THAT church” journey is for 3 Years, we will renew our Faith Commitments annually. The current weekly, monthly, or annual commitments extend until December 31, 2010.

Do I have to sign my name if this is a commitment I'm making to God?

Signing your name is optional. However, indicating name and amount allows you opportunity to express your Faith and your Commitment. It is a way of saying to God: "This is me, Lord. Count on me."

What happens if I leave the TLC Family Church before my commitment is paid in full?

We would hope that TLC would always be your family, and as we will support you as a family member no matter where you live, we would hope and greatly appreciate you completing your commitment if it is possible within the circumstances of your transition.
